Shortly after leaving Kristiansund the landscape flattens and the coastline becomes more islets and islands than mountains and deep fjords. One final tunnel takes you from the city to the start of the Atlantic Road.
Averøy is a fishing and agricultural county with 11% of the landscape farmed compared to the national average of just 3%. Many people are employed in both fishing and fish exports as well as farming.
Immediately after the tunnel there is a wide open vista. Glistening ocean and small islets with a distinct lack of mountains unless you look into the distance. A change from the landscape further inland and even just a few kilometres further west.
