Lanterns and Alleyways in Marrakech Medina

Everywhere in Marrakech there are lanterns.  Ornate with intricate lattice work, the copper and tin lanterns hang along alleyways and deep within small shops within the souk.

Master craftsmen chisel and hammer these magical designs.  The smallest saw removes the intricate windows to allow the light to escape and decorate the walls and ceilings with patterns and streams of light.  Glass and precious stones fill the spaces, filtering the light into a kaleidoscope of colour.  Every one is different, unique designs imagined by the individual and brought to life by light.
